Technology Ahead

A mix of excitement and concern surrounds India's latest auction of spectrum licenses for third-generation (3G) services, and a soon-to-follow broadband wireless spectrum auction. The winning bids for 3G spectrum totaled Rs. 67,710 crore (US$15 billion, at Rs. 45 to a dollar), against the government's original expectation of Rs. 35,000 crore (US$7.78 billion).

After BSNL and MTNLthe Govt. owned companies, TATA DOCOMO is the first privet company to launch 3g services in india this Diwali season.The people of India are very excited about this launch.TATA DOCOMO is the fastest growing company in India.As Tata Docomo, the pioneer of per second tariff is going to be first private operator to start 3G services there are immense speculations and expectations from them. TTSL bagged 3G spectrum for nine circles in the auction held in May this year.Tata Docomo will launch 3G services in 9 circles out of total 22 telecom circles of India. Tata Docomo gives its 3G services a miss in all of 4 metros – Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata & Mumbai and another two lucrative Category ‘A’ circles – Tamilnadu and Andra Pradesh.Now its time for "Bharati" to launch 3g services after TATA DOCOMO.Bharti has named Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei Technologies as its network equipment partners for 3G and has said it is in talks with other operators for alliances to provide 3G services beyond the 13 zones for which it has licences.
