Sprint Introduces a True 4G Network to the Golden State’s Capital
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), November 15, 2010 - Sprint (NYSE:S) today announced that its lightning-fast 4G wireless service is available now in the California state capital of Sacramento. In a true showing of bi-partisan unity, Sprint enables members of the community and their government representatives of all parties with mobile downloads, video chat capabilities and turbo-charged Web browsing up to 10 times faster than 3G service1 – all on the first wireless 4G network from a national carrier.
With the addition of Sacramento, Sprint 4G can now be found in 62 markets across the country, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and New York City. Sprint 4G plans to light up several other major markets by the end of the year, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Denver and Washington, D.C. The company has already delivered 4G in California to Merced, Modesto, Stockton and Visalia.
“There aren’t many places on Earth like the Golden State with its diverse cultures, natural beauty and now its fast and accommodating Sprint 4G network,” said Matt Carter, president-Sprint 4G. “Sacramento is where you come to get things done in California, and this revolutionary technology will assist in making people’s lives more efficient, fulfilling and productive by placing the world at their fingertips.”
Customers can take advantage of the Sprint 4G Network with a range of 4G-capable devices already available from Sprint. Residents of the Central Valley and those visiting the state capital can quickly access information about California’s rich history, find out what laws are up for debate, or snap high-quality pictures with their Samsung Epic™ 4G. They can use video chat on their HTC EVOTM 4G while state lawmakers can power up their laptops with 4G speeds by plugging in Sprint 3G/4G USB Modem 250U by Sierra Wireless to make wireless downloads, streaming video and Web browsing fast and convenient.
Sprint is delivering the power of 4G as the majority shareholder of Clearwire, the independent company that is building the WiMAX network. For more information, visit www.sprint.com/4G.
